Application of computer vision for processing laser ray reflection image in seismic monitoring of city buildings

This research exhibits a possibility to conduct the seismic monitoring of city buildings using simple everyday tools and computer science methods. It is enough to have a laser pointer, an action camera and a program to record and decode vibrations of the buildings with a reflective surface. The impact on the building caused by transport, construction works and other sources of vibration can be estimated by any person using this method. It is possible to estimate whether my house is safer than the house across the highway. It can be tested how much damage an open-air gig causes to local historical building. It is able to find out how strong acoustic pressure on windows during fireworks is. Computer vision based-software for non-contact vibration data acquisition is developed in this work.
